Contacting Georgia Broadcast Media And Double Surgeries

Because our Alzheimer's Advocates are so very important to our efforts, we're planning a media "Blitz", and I'll be contacting radio stations everywhere here in Georgia and get them set up for Advocate recruitment. We'll be targeting all stations, both on the AM and FM bands, so if you live in Georgia and want to help by submitting a station near you, feel free to send me a note. If you don't know an address, don't worry about it, I'll do a search and get that for us.

Meanwhile, if you're considering Alzheimer's Advocacy, contact Kathy Simpson at the Atlanta chapter to get you started. Her e-mail is kathy.simpson@alz.org and her phone number is: (404) 728-1181.

We can use your help as well as any ideas, and the more advocates, the stronger we'll be in getting legislation passed that we so desperately need to help not only us patients, but our caregivers as well.

Now the not-so-good news: Dondra and I both have degenerative disc disease in our necks, (don't ask me how that happened!) and we'll both require surgery, so I may be out of touch for a while, although D (who's hurting the worst) will go first, probably as early as next week. It's a procedure which involves an entrance into the neck for repair, so even after the surgery we'll be "laid up" for a few days. We've both been dealing with neck pain for about a year now, and it's just gotten too bad to work "through" it.

Because of this, I won't be able to do the Atlanta Marathon this year. I kept thinking "Well, they give you 6 hours to finish, Billy-Bob, and if you can't do it in 6 hours, you oughta just not run at all anymore." So next year, creek willin'.
